LeGrazie: I agree. Looking at the proceedings, it appears CRSA wasn't there and neither was Bridge. Then again, the SCYSA is an elected body and not a judicial one -- I think this is showing through.

I also find it amazing that the upstate and midstate district commissioners were on the committee but not the lower state district commissioner who would have represented Bridge among other lower state clubs. But since she and the president of the SCYSA are married, and the president was on the committee, I guess that somehow (?) works out okay for the SCYSA.

This is certainly a bummer for the immediate future. But I don't feel too bad because these people at SCYSA have essentially nailed their own coffin shut. You can't alienate 2/3 of your cliental and expect to survive. Even us "kids" know that. So..yeah..great.. NECSA may have won the battle ..but the merger movement will win the war.

Is there any way to poll the board. Was it unanimous? How did each board member vote? Is this public record?

As elected officials by the membership one would hope that each club's president would be privy to all the information at which point each club who has an elected president should be able to provide its membership with the information. Thus each club can and must understand the repercusion of the hearing on their program.

I do not know if this situation actually occurs....

What if Team A in club X which happens to be in the border of their district has 55% of their players reside from the other district. This means they could not field a team? The players could not play because the closest in district club is 1 hr away?
What about out of state players? What if discoveries fields a team of mostly NC players, is that considered out of district?

Now these rules are being enforced, why did it take NECSA or anyone else for that matter to bring up the obvious to a body whose only job is to make sure there is a level playing field and rules are followed (could care less volunteer or paid)?. Why did they not act before when everyone and their brother new what was going on? Someone approved the Bylaws for Bridge when they were submitted... To the point of all clubs not providing ALL the services as required by the SCYSA bylaws why aren't they also "punished"?

Please understand that I have no feelings one way or the other over CESA or no CESA. I will say however that in this day of specialization there is a clear need (in my mind) for the midlands to have levels of paly clubs or offerings. You can no longer be evrything to everyone, you cannot succeed this way.

Lastly to all REC, classic and challenge U10 to U14.... IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT STATE CUP WILL NOT BE IN GREENVILLE THIS APRIL/MAY!!!!

Because it can only be hosted by a club with enough fields.

CESA provided the fields to SCYSA for the fall, without the volunteers as they had originally not bid on the tournament (long story but SCYSA covered the tourney as apposed to past tourneys). CFC in SBurg did not have enough facilities to host.

So my guess is that the MESA complex and the old GFC complex may be otherwise occupied the weekends of state cup.

futbol(soccer): I'd be surprised if CESA wouldn't help out. I've never met anyone from CESA that didn't put what's best for kids before all else -- and if the kids need the fields I'd think that CESA would offer them if it could.

By the way, the "long story" is actually pretty short. My understanding is that CESA didn't bid because it had used all of its volunteers on its own tournaments and couldn't figure out how to supply another set -- but it offered its fields.

Not insinuating anything CESA did wrong....just to say that there was no viable bid from the upstate district (whose turn it was) and CFC could not host... the long story is SCYSA's decision making process to host.... nothing else, did not want to bring into the discussion...

SCYSA has a 50% state residency rule. Discoveries cannot have more than 50% of their players from NC, just as Aiken would not be able to field a team with more than 50% of their players from GA.

I'm still looking for two things.
1) Has anyone found the minutes on the SCYSA page other than Chapindad?

2) How did each board member vote?
