I agree Cannavaro was the player of the tourney for Italy but I have to give today's match to Buffon on that awesome save against Zidane..I do not think the Italians could of asked more from their goalie

WOW...well all i know is never talk crap to Zidane, unless you have some advil handy..great game in my opinion. but my god, why would you want the last play of your career to be like that? maybe he is considering UFC for a career change? if not, someone should point him in that direction...

I'd rather watch a world cup victory lap around the stadium and/or Gattuso in his tighty whities instead of some ABC style montage segue into a minor golf tourny. Damn sad thing especially when they switched the coverage over to ESPN anyway.

I've been delaying the matches so that I can match up the XM radio casts. Much better than anything ABC / ESPN has had to offer.

Great world cup. My Germany team has lots to be proud of. I still don't think much should be changed in the way of referee calls. The ball wasn't the ultimate scoreing machine. I hope Man U makes C. Ronaldo show up and go through the gauntlet of English fans for one match and then sell him off.

Henry is a bit of a diver...unless you compare him to C. Ronaldo (wants to leave Man U now!). They rationalize it (tell a rational lie) by claiming it "protects" them. Grey area?

Italy embodied the team concept, similar to Germany. I find them most entertaining. They handed France their first defeat ever in any kind of final (WC, Euro, Olympic, Confederations).

all this talk about commentators.. i think john harkes was the best out of all of them.. and i def. dont like balboa or that other guy that has no clue about soccer or anything besides jessie owens

I'd really like to hear something from Zidane before anybody tries to crucify him. Despite that bizarre incident.. the man more or less singlehandedly beat Brazil..AGAIN.. not to mention carrying France on his back in every other match after group play.

My commentator's award goes to Shep Messing..and whoever his partner was.. they didn't get very good games..but their knowledge was solid, quality color..and best of all..they didn't fill up the game with stupid BS like "we're 3222222298 miles from the Reichstag [insert rant about an era that has nothing to do with modern Germany or modern football] WOO HOO!"


My favorite positive commentator moment.. Shep Messing calling goals. Always seemed to be delayed about 5-10 seconds..but was always shocked and animated as if it had just happened. Got me every time.
