Everything anyone says on this message board, or any message board, tends to irritate someone. I found it interesting, and just a tiny bit irritating, when someone used the Disney win by the CESA U13G Premier team to try to promote his daughter's team. I found it interesting when that same person disparaged the CESA U13G Premier team when talking about not winning their "own" tournament -- when in fact the goal of a club and the goal of a team in a club with respect to a club's tournaments are not the same -- the club wishes to have the most competitive and widely attended tournament while the team wishes to win as easily as possible.
Why raise this? After all, it's only irritating when it goes against the grain. I guess because when I read this thread I was reminded of the last controversy regarding inappropriate behavior and Bridge. Darren Sweet, the president of the club, got on the message board and responded in an up-front manner. The folks on this message board that find that this runs "against the grain" might consider that criticizing those that ask questions is typically not helpful in eliminating the talk -- at best it drives it down and increases the rumors. What tends to work best is standing up and addressing the issue in a forthright manner.
With all of this said, let me be clear on my personal position -- if some kids misbehaved at Sticky Fingers, I don't care as long as these kids didn't play in a club that I financially support or that I have kids that do or might play at that club. Of course, if it happened in a gender/age group in which my kid played, I would be interested in finding out how it might impact my kid's team.
