Lowcountry - are you a member of SSC?

Nothing is being hidden from General Membership. No club members showed up to either the Bridge FA (Dec.) or SSC (Jan.)board meeting. Get involved with your club and then you will know what is happening.

I was a long time member of SSC but now I am a member of the Bridge in supporting my daughter's love of the game.

I attended many SSC meeting and fully understand why general membership does not attend.....Big waste of time. Why should a general membership have to go to a monthly meeting to know the issues and what is being done about them? Communications should be more than just the monthly meeting and with general membership not attending how in the world does general membership understand what they can do to help or be apart of the solution.

When SSC agreed to support the Bridge concept perception was that the SSC board voted and passed the agreement without general membership really knowing what happened. I truelly believe that now with new board members that they do not totally agree with the Bridge concept or have an ax to grind. What does general membership think or want for the future of SSC. General membership probably does not even know that the Bridge paid for the use of SSC fields......perception by general membership was that the Bridge teams were just taking over the SSC facilities.

If the Bridge concept is going to work we will need the support of SSC. Breaking ties with the Bridge is not going to be in the best interst of the players for either club.

One possible hypothesis: because in addition to paying hundreds and thousands of dollars to a club, you should also have to work as hard as possible to pull data from the entropic heart of the beast rather than hoping that someone will either post information on the web or send an e-mail?

Didn't sound right to me, either...

If you are a long time member at SSC then you probably know several people that serve on the board and could give you the answers you are looking for...

coldhardtruth: I have no doubt that there is a way to find out information if one works hard enough. I guess I wonder at the theory that one should have to work hard to get information about an entity to which one is a member and thus sending so much money.

Please note that this isn't SSC-specific from my perspective; it's an issue with many, many clubs.

Chico...SSC is reasonable in their overall costs compared to other clubs and most of these dollars are going to training...not in SSC pockets..I did not have to work very hard to find out what went on at the meeting...All I had to do was ask..What are you going to posts on a website when a decision or an outcome has not been made? Most of the general membership does not care what goes on in the board room...I have been to several meetings to find a very few members present..I only take issue with this because it appears that SSC is not doing their part to get information out from posters and I believe that there is two club names on this thread...Maybe we should check the Bridge website or attend one of the Bridge meetings for updates...SSC was the only club to stick there necks out there to help start this Bridge program and when the first sign of adversity comes along...Do we point fingers at SSC?

Word on the street has it that the SSC Board voted to sever ties with the Bridge. Bridge now must find a new home.

Why? Bridge is the best thing we have in the lowcountry for elite players. This does not help anyone.
