Deahler, I learned to get myself on the All-State committee to make sure players don't get shafted . Now lets see if you're daughters have got the character to win or to lose with pride instead of resorting to fistacuffs .

I told LF earlier that I hoped Lexington would make a good showing, for outside of Irmo the Columbia AAAA area has not had much to cheer about. Josef has been a pain in my side long enough so I hope you crush him! Oh, and in case your daughter doesn't know the difference...I'm talking about the score.

Got a telephone call: Dorman 1-0 (in PK's).

As a Lexington fan, surprising and encouraging result given that both Viking Cup all-tournament team players from Lexington were injured and didn't play.

Encouraging for the Lex defense. It's a shame we couldn't see a "fair fight"....but that's the way it goes. You need to play them all and injuries are a big part of the game.

That was not a "left-handed" compliment. Just the facts. Lex played short-handed and they recorded a shutout, great for the "D". Injuries are a part of the game...most everybody gets bit by the injury bug during the season.

As for Dorman....great result. They beat, in the opinion of many, the best 4A team in the state.

As I understand it, Dorman was missing several freshmen players. I've always thought that people who put a lot of emphasis on pre-season (e.g., Viking Cup) and early season games in high school were a bit misguided.

I believe that the best 4A team in the state is Dorman until proven otherwise on the field. But I do think the result says a lot about the Lexington team, players, and coaches.

If you go on the road, and get a draw against the defending state champs, without your two studs in the line up...you've done very well. Just my opinion, obviously no one has offered any extensive commentary on how this game went (50/50?).

To be honest, in my opinion, others may disagree, but I thought the game was very boring. Anytime we moved the ball into their side of the field, all they would do was kick it out. We could not get anything going because they would just kick it out on their first touch on their side of the field. Like I said earlier in the week, they did not appear to be trying to win the game to me, just hang on and go to PK's, which is exactly what happened, and they came away with the win. I guess that was a great game plan by them and their coach... Hat's off to them it worked.

I agree the game wasn't the most exciting to watch. I was very disappointed to see Lexington get too physical. It seems to be their strategy when frustrated. A tall Lex blonde finally got a yellow card for kicking the goalkeeper (more than once) but the sad part is that she bragged about it to her coach when she came out and he gave her a high five. I always wonder why some coaches don't teach soccer skills instead of letting players act the way that player did. I firmly believe that if you have the skills there is no need to be violent.
