Yes I have, and I have NEVER seen a championship decided with a player standing still playing it to a goalie standing still. Have you?
Deahler, So you would prefer a hockey style one-v-one shootout over PKs. MLS tried that for a while and it did not go over very well.

No, I have already stated what I wouldn't mind seeing. Of note to those not familiar with hockey - during the playoffs the NHL plays their games until someone breaks the tie with multiple overtimes, if necessary - not with shootouts. No TEAM would be allowed to hoist Lord Stanley's Cup unless they could say they won it on the rink.
JM,
I am sorry I hijacked your thread. We should get back to discussing how no other team has a chance against Dorman's superior intellect, skill and coaching.

Deahler, Sorry, I missed the fact that you were only concerned about championship or playoff games being decided by PK shootouts. I thought we were discussing Dorman's regular season wins on PKs.

Morning Gents
Funny I'm reading the post and remember our match vs. Dorman last year we also took Dorman to PKs after a 1-1 game. Our strategy was very similar to theirs, play well and organized defensively and look to counter with a very quick forward I had last year by the name of Kara Kelly now at Winthrop. But the thing that I remember is the coach standing about 10 yards behind all the players at midfield while the PK shots are being taken and the coach waving at his keeper what direction he felt the shot was going to go. The keeper dove in the direction as instructed by the coach.
Question, do any other coaches do this?

Chico, Great karma comment. Sounds like Dorman's got it going on! Deahler, Regarding corner kicks. That's "old school". I lost a second-round HS state playoff game my junior year. At the end of regulation, final score was 0-0. We didn't even go to OT. The "tie breaker" was corner kicks. We lost 11-0. Only small consolation was that our keeper got recruited by Philadelphia Textile as a result of his performance in this game. Cantona, Glad you've recovered from last night.

Recovered? Not really Hurst. It is nice to see that our former club players are doing well, just tough to see against my HS team.

So, the problem with pk's is that 5 players on each team alternate kicks? Is it more acceptable that a pk at the end of regulation decide the game? How is that more indicative of the "team"? I notice that some (not all, by any means) Lex supporters are less than humble even when they win. This is not a reflection of their players or even their coaches I'm sure, but when every game that doesn't end in 5 or more goals is coined by "terribly officiated" or "resting starters" or "could have easily been 6 or 7 goals", it gets a bit tiresome. Also to truefan regarding "fun"-do you really believe it's about fun? That would be rec soccer-remember when everybody made the team and everybody played a set amount of time and it wasn't about winning. Heck they didn't even keep score. Does Lex actually do that?

Forget Dorman . . . with a 4-1 decision over Northwestern last night, Clover is the only undefeated team left in Girls' AAAA!!! Is it time to call my brother for a scouting report?

Cantona,
I pray, then flip a coin, rub some dirt in my hand, and then wish upon a star. By the time I have done all this the pk has already been taken and I have wasted my time.

I will assume this was in response to my post, even though it appears you are responding to Hurst66's post. Quote:

Yes, to me, that is more acceptable. I would have to assume that a penalty would not have been called in this situation unless the fouled player was in a goal-scoring position during regular play with the team on the field (presumably defense) allowing that to happen. The resulting PK try would then be indicative of the team's play just like it would be had it occured at any other time during the game.

I will assume that you are not referring to me here, as I can't recall ever posting the above comments after a game. If you would point me to a specific post I have made, I will be happy to respond. I also get tired of the endless "excuse-type" comments. Officials, injuries, substitution patterns (or lack thereof), scores that might-have-been (or should-not-have-been) are all part of any athletic endeavor that I have been party to. I prefer to stick to results and key plays - much more exciting!
As for being humble - if JMCLEMSON is a Dorman fan . . . Is humble what JM's comments in this thread are?
