How does an undefeated 3A team (15-0-1) get ranked 14th? (Moving up 1 spot after beating a 4A school) Behind teams with losing seasons. What else do they have to do? I'm sure the analysis would include - consider the opponents, but still - you beat everybody you face. I guess we need to include style points.

Look at the Win\Loss differential for opponents (big negative). That pretty much says it right there.

I saw that record and rank and thought the same thing, but geeessshhhh, play somebody. All those teams ahead of them could probably be 15-0-1 too if playing those same teams.

Here's the problem, you're in a region, you have to play the others in your region. Toughen up the schedule is easier for some teams in some areas. I applaud those teams that can, and do, travel quite far away for games. Some school administrators don't allow it. As far as the won - loss differential. If they were only accurate! A lot of the teams in our area don't have their records complete. For instance, when we (GSSM) played Aynor the scsoccer.com schedule showed them at 0 - 2, when I asked the coach he said they were 5 - 2. So there are five wins by opponents that don't show up on our won - loss differential. I don't know if Wilson has the same problem or not - but I think they do. And of course this is not a problem that the rankers can correct/overcome.

In any case, those that rank teams do a better job than I ever could. But isn't it part of the reason to rank teams to spur debate?

Wilson is a solid team! I don't think they are too worried about their rank at this point. Historically our region has not done well in the tournament. We are getting better, but not quite there yet. I do think they are ranked a bit low considering they have beat some decent 4A teams. Respect is earned, not given. It is very difficult to schedule some of the tougher teams since travel is an issue. We'll wait and see how the playoffs go before deciding whether they are underrated. Coach Cady you make a good point and I thought the same thing when I saw a team with a 6-8 record ranked above them. But I also started researching the teams ranked above them and realized the same thing many others did. Our region is just too weak. The only close game we have really had in our region was against Wilson, and they outplayed us despite the score being 2-1.

It's not Lord Administrater's fault that some idiot coach does not know how to report their scores and records. I'm not knocking Wilson because they probably do have some quality players but the teams ahead of them more than likely will "walk the dog with them."
