Coach Cady WAS NOT saying Wilson should be number one in the polls. He was questioning how an undefeated team can be ranked behind teams with losing records. Personally, I think Wilson should be above a few teams like Bluffton. NO, they should not be in the top five just because they are undefeated against a crummy schedule, but they should get more respect than 15th. And goal differential means nothing WHATSOEVER. With the exception of Greenville putting up scores like 6-0 against Daniel and 3-0 against Eastside, every good team runs up the score on rubbish teams in their region. Eastside, Riverside, and Greenville all win games by 8 or more on several occasions. And the opponent W-L differential is also total BS. All the positive numbers come MAINLY from the other teams they play that are ranked in the top 15. Take Eastside for example: Their differential is +40 which comes from Greenville(+18), Riverside(+12), Daniel(+7), and Mann(+4) (or something like that). This gives them a differential of +41 not to mention they get to play Riverside and Mann two times during the year. Same story for Riverside; the majority of the +41 comes from Greenville (+18), Eastside(+7), and Mann(+4). I'm sure Socastee gets a bunch of positive numbers too from NMB and MB. Basically the goal and opponent's W-L differentials is BS in highschool soccer because some teams are extremely less talented. Wilson should get atleast a little more respect because they are undefeated. If Bluffton and B-C can't have a winning record against their opponents they shouldn't be above Wilson. Like Coach Cady said, the goal is to win and if those teams can't find whatever it takes to win against their opponents regardless of how good the opponent is, they should not be ranked where they are.
