I am posting this to show how the league is now soccer is a game for kids to play have fun compete and become better athletes to find good friends to just have a great experience and become a better person but tonight i saw something that really ruins that tonight at chapin lakewood faced a tough team hey could pass and had good knowledge of the feild and was not afraid to pull the trigger and by far had the best header control ive seen in a while lakewood on the other hand hussled and never stoped showing that their speed could beat the back line of chapin showing that it would not be a pushover along with the defense doing a great job keeping some of the shots that could have made lakewood look really bad But the thing that bothered me the most was the fact that the teams themselves knew it should have been a closer game lakewood really brough it to them tonight but the refs called a horrible game for lakewoods side i mean a straight slide tackle from behind a lakewood player and there was no card not even a yellow like i expected if not the worst one of lakewoods shots were caught in the goal by chapins backupgoalie and another bad judgement call by the ref was not counted dont get me wrong both teams showed amazing keeper skill for a game that was supposed to be a blowout the score should have been more around 2-5 chapin did earn a most the goals they scored only 2 were questionable and lakewood earned the goal that was caught in the net i just want to say hats off to both teams but i think that the middle ref in that game was very arrogent and should not be allowed to ref high school if he can not call a 2 sided game my appoligies if the other 2 refs took this offensively because the middle ref was even overruleing them and they knew better than him i would like to know what others think about this so plz post?!?!?!?

ok.... please use periods at the end of your thoughts. Your posts get quite confusing but I think I know what you are trying to say. What did the referee look like?

Thank you for pointing out the need for punctuation!!! Meany, you need to stop complaining about the refs when you guys lose. When we beat you 4-2 at your place, all you could do was blame the refs. Grow up and take responsibility for your play. When you came to our place and won 4-3, I openly admitted it was because we got outhustled. You guys by far were the biggest whiners in our region this year on and off the field. Instead of looking for calls, spend more time learning to play better.

meany,

I watched one Lakewood game this year. During the game, I thought that your team had the best athleticism I had seen on a soccer field in a long time. Unfortunately, your speed and strength and desire was not matched by your skills and tactical awareness, but that will come with more experience. It was a close game, and as your team was heading for the bus, I extended a sincere "Hey guys, you played a great game." to some of your players. Unfortunately, all I got in return was a cold and rather hostile sneer. Learn some sportsmanship, and continue to gain soccer experience, and you can be a very good team. Instead of whining about the unfairness of the officiating or the scheduling or the field conditions or anything else, convince your teammates to form a club team in Sumter. Work hard this summer, play in the classic league in the fall, and come back to the next high school season that much better.

Assuming you are the keeper for Lakewood, I was very, very impressed by your ability to throw the ball. I assume you are a football quarterback, based on the way you were throwing one-handed to well beyond midfield. That's a way cool skill. A lot of coaches would love to have that ability on their team.

Darlington played the game without a starting forward as well as Leigh Manley, leading scorer (29 goals), only played the first half. DHS was also without its starting keeper due to injury. All that aside, Lakewood simply wanted it more. They played with more emotion than DHS, and that was the difference. Good luck in the playoffs.
The stoppage time due to weather didn't help either""""" I would like to point out the fact that they made up excuses about not having players also so if your going to fuss about whineing practice what you preach

That is not whining, simply stating facts. We didn't have the same offensive pressure without those two up front. I do think we were the better team this season, we simply got outhustled. Like I said before, you guys wanted it more than we did. However during the games, we were a lot less likely to whine and complain about calls. You guys went so far as to complain about shirts not being tucked in. Give me a break. A few guys on your team are class acts, but when you guys won at our place and you had guys running all over the field pulling their shirts off like they won the state championship was totally classless. You guys overall were just shocked that Darlington could actually put together a winning season. It is hard to take when the doormat is no longer there to wipe your feet on. By the way, thanks for the punctuation.

To set the story straight the ref from the Chapin vs. Lakewood game may have been a player's dad, but he was not a bad ref. He just called a very tight game which prevented Lakewood from playing our game. We don't have a lot of talent, so we have to get physical to make up for it. The ref did give two pks and a free kick at the top of the box that were all scored and he handed out I believe a total of six yellows to Lakewood. The free kick was a poor call, but the pks were both understandable. The one was obvious and the other was two players running for the ball and they both fell hard so it could have been called either way.

To adress your comment about the players tucking in their shirts, kick. The only reason that they were requested to tuck in their shirts is because one of our players was carded for pulling their shirts. However, it was obvious he did not because as the player dribbled it out of the defense our player used his body to shield the player off the ball. As the darlington player reacher around to pull the player back, our players arm went back and because it was a shorter player on your team with his shirt untucked, the ref saw it as our player pulling his shirt. Therefore, nothing was said towards darlington just so the ref did not make another obvious mistake. The first game darlington clearly won. We had an own goal and made mistakes that ya'll capitalized on.

Are you serious? A players dad was the center ref in a playoff match? That's not a good situation at all, regardless of how good he is.
