Hurst66: The most striking thing about this to me was that only four clubs were represented - one in the upper state, two in the midstate, and one in the lower state. With the kind of geographic distribution that was achieved, I expected at least a few smaller clubs to be represented. Tega Cay was the closest to a "surprising" (i.e., not a larger more dominant club) club fielding players.
My list of the top players not making the list (note: I didn't see most of these kids play in high school, so I'm not arguing the list -- and realize that making this kind of list is incredibly difficult -- I'm just pointing out some other really good players) were Ramsey, Gmerick, Urig, and Sheets. All played in 4-A programs. All are excellent Division 1-A/1-AA candidates. I don't know of any eligible players (i.e., those that played SC public school ball) in the other classifications -- perhaps others with more insight might offer those names.
garnet&black: It would be an interesting exercise to go through the number of schools, number of students, number of players, in each division and figure out representation. It's my guess that 3-A is over-represented and 4-A is under-represented -- but I think that's more because of the strength of Riverside and Eastside than anything else. Given the number of players and teams and students, I'd be surprised if 1-A/2-A were under-represented -- but it certainly could be the case.
