Temoc Suarez has to be up there with Andy.
South Carolinas Coerver Coaching Director, Temoc Suarez, has represented the United States at every level of the youth national teams including playing for the US U17s at the Youth World Cup in Italy in 1991, the US U20, U23 Olympic Team and the US FUTSAL team. He was an All-American and ACC Rookie of the year at the University of North Carolina, a Parade All-American at Bishop England, a first round draft pick for the Dallas Burn of MLS and also played extensively for in the A-league.

I remember marking Andy Kwon when he was a senior and I was a freshmen when he played at Spring Valley. Needless to say, I wasn't overly impressed. He's quick, but he can't take over a game by himself. My vote goes to John Wilson from Seneca. He was a beast!

WHAT...are you nuts? Andy must have been hurt when you marked him CBass. Especially if you were a freshman and he was a senior. Oh I know, he didn't want to look too good against a freshman so he took it easy on you. Man, this cat was good, real good. I saw him take over a couple of games in high school. Including the one I played in. I can't say he is the best player ever, but I would throw him in the top 10 offensively. John Wilson would probably make that list to, but to say that Andy couln't take over a game, dude, you're wrong. He controlled games.

I remember hearing "KWON!!! KWON!!!" on the field a lot. He was good, but I don't think he'd stand out AS much compared to the talent we have now in the state.

WOW. Cleary you guys did not play in the mid 90s. Kwon and Suarez are once a decade type players. They were both captains in the ACC and both represented the national team on numerous levels.and I mean the real national team not this pool crap everyone goes to. To pick one is six in one hand half a dozen in the other. Wilson was a beast but not as dynamic as the other two. All three would give the top players today a run for their money. The only two I would put in their class would be Jamal and Enzo.

I agree, their accolades speak for themselves. And as for Enzo and Jamal, I would have to agree also. And Enzo is only a junior this year...

Either he was hurt or I was a top 50 state & all-region player myself on the state ODP team. You figure that one out. I would definitely opt for Temoc Suarez over Andy Kwon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking him. He was a very good player. Probably one of the most technically sound players around, but again he didn't take over games. He scored off of a PK he didn't earn and we lost 2-1 to Spring Valley in 1993, so I'm basing this off of personal exp. If we're talking about being the best player of the decade he should take over more than a few games don't you think?

Wow CBess, you really made yourself sound credible by telling us your awards. Here's the thing, NOBODY CARES!!! Your awards still don't keep you from sounding like an idiot by saying that Andy Kwon couldn't take over games.
Clearly you didn't see him play much. What state did you play in? That's right, you played at the soccer powerhouse North Augusta, who were challenging for third or fourth in the region every year behind BC and Lexington. WOW!!!
Just stop talking before the high school league takes back your all-region trophy for sounding stupid.

South Aiken took the title in '96 over BC, Lex, and NA. We heard stories of Kwan being the best at that time from club.
We often feared Chris Bess when he moved up from the back. Are you Benji Poston from BC who went on to USCA? Crew cut, short guy?
