Fernando and his family were indeed going to return to Uruguay...got half way down to Miami, where they were to catch their flight back to Uruguay, and then decided to stay. So now, they are essentially starting all over back in Rock Hill, where I believe Fernando will be attending Rock Hill High.

In years past, the Varsity coach did not allow freshman to play Varsity soccer...they had to be indoctrinated into "the program" and play JV their freshman year...didn't matter how talented or skilled the player was. But, it's my understanding there has been a changing of the guard at RHHS and there is a new Varsity coach. Perhaps, you may very well see Fernando on the Varsity squad.

As far as ODP...Fernando was released from the program due to a hazing incident at last year's subregional competition. Hence, the reason why he was not at tryouts.

RHHS has a new assistant coach I believe and from what I have heard, he seems to be pretty good. I guess we will have to see!

Please make sure your information is correct. The mentioned indoctrination policy has never existed. This wouldn't be fair to the player. This wouldn't be fair to the program. Fernando is a quality person and a very impressive player at RHHS. Jon Rayment will be joining the varsity staff this year from the start. Pavel Miranda will be the new JV coach. All of us work very well together and I'm looking forward to a great year of talented coaches and talented players. I'm interested in this thread topic: 'other freshmen deserving of being highlighted?

my pick for one of the best freshman this season is RV's ryan gianelli. Even though rv got beat 0-4 by aiken. He made every single one of thier mids and backs look like idiots. He even took it to Lexington after rv's 0-0 tie. He's small but has the speed, the moves, and the great shot. He will be an asset to the team this year and many years to come
