By far the worst field to play on or even watch games at, is Lincoln, only a 1A school, but the surface is terrible and the mosquitos and gnats or whatever they are never go away, no matter how thick the bug spray.
W&E it can not come close to gnats. picture them so thick you have a cloud around you. It can be 80 out side and I have on long pants and a long sleeve shirt and hat. You can play connect the dots on you socks. The only thing that keeps them away is wind and smoke.
Hey, I got a story just like that from Greenwood! One time I pointed to the goal and a bug landed on my arm. It was that one time out of 12 trips, but isn't that kind of the same?
Beaufort's feild is pretty bad too. Not so much the field, but the bugs like everyone previously mentioned. We used to bathe ourselves in bug spray before the games and then we would put on all our long sleeves and pants and tie our pennies around our heads like mosquito netting.
WE you have to be here to understand, spring time is gnat time and once the sun starts to go down they come out in force. It is bad and what YOYO discribed is just what the boys on my bench look like during a game. I pray for wind just so I don't have to deal with them. NASTY!
I'll back you up on that 100% Playing a scrimmage at WA's field in February still left me with arms full of welts from the sand gnats...it had been a while since I'd come that way--forgot just how hard the little buggers bite!
