Another point:
One of the most valuable parts of the CESA experience is the across-the-board quality of the players at every practice, every event, etc,. Kids who get 100's of quality touches five or six times a week get better, simple as that. My daughter's team was full of high school starters from Mann, Wade Hampton, Riverside, and they played against other CESA teams once or twice a week with Eastside, Riverside, Wren, Christ Church kids who can flat play and get better every day.
Soccer has something for every girl. Some want to play at that higher level, some want to be a star at a lower level.
Let's let them all love soccer. If they travel, so what. If they play down, so what. They aren't doing drugs, cussing our teachers, or joining gangs.
They're enjoying soccer.

Bridge FA will still be the best option for the top players in the Lowcountry and, if anything, BFA could benefit from this CESA manuever by attracting disgruntled SSC players who don't believe in being run by the upstate rival. It was a point mentioned last weekend by some SSC folks at the tournament. Like him or not, Clark Brisson still has a good concept, good coaching staff and good teams at Bridge FA.

Spiritdad,
I don't know if you've had the opportunity to watch a CESA Premier/CESA Challenge match, but take one in when you have the chance. I think you would see that each "player" gets priority. Besides, have SSC interests been given top priority recently? If the status quo remains, then it is what it is. With change, there is an opportunity to change the operations.
soccerislife, I haven't heard the fee structure, but I can tell you, the cost of playing for a Bridge FA "premier" team and CESA Premier team are very close, minus the travel expense to Greenville once a week. That said, given the different programs that come at that same expense, there's more bang for the buck.
Obviously, we could debate any number of the statements, but with the anonymity of the board, it's very difficult. You can see that I'm from Summerville, but what area do you live in? I only ask so that I don't make incorrect assumptions about your posts. Everyone carries personal bias, so this would help me understand your bias. Your posts clearly show your disagreement with CESA, but your perspective could be either as a CUFC or Bridge supporter.

Would SSC interests been given more priority if BFA was allowed to run the entire club, like CESA will, instead of just being an alliance partner?

I am a CESA dad from Greenville.
Bridge teams we played last year were very, very good with solid players.

The pervasive theme from many in the low country, and this is going to be a hard part for any change in the area, is it's all about the individual teams. Many people think the club is an organizational umbrella that exists to allow each "team" to operate independently, without a common club approach.
Kickinit, I don't think this is about Bridge not being the best option for the top players in the lowcountry, but rather about what's in the best interest of supporting the programs and players at SSC.
The BFA concept is still a good one, that in my opinion, has lacked the proper leadership, goals and organizational structure to reach it's potential.

Retired, thanks but my question was really directed to soccerislife.

After reading the press release from SSC, I am not clear on whether there is a relationship being formed between SSC and CESA or whether SSC is "hiring" Tormey and Hyslop as consultants. The implication in the release seems to more strongly suggest the latter. Can any SSC person clarify that?

I think there is a lot of fishing for CESA to be accepted in the low country. CESA Columbia is an an example of an inferior product that is operating under the CESA model. What quality teams our (sic) and abundances of quality coaches do they have? CESA does a really good job of recruiting players for all there top teams from all the other areas. How does that improve the quality of soccer for the area. Its funny that some people think that good soccer only comes from CESA. The bigger vision is having a bigger wallet.
Look into the CESA-Columbia U12 Boys. Undefeated in league (top division of Sandlapper) and tournament play this season (15-0-2), won both the Concorde Classic and the Bridge Invitational and in two years has never lost to or been tied by a CUFC team.

if commuting to greenville once a week keeps my little johnny starting every game like he used to until he lost his spot because some other rotten kid was willing to work a little harder than him and I dont want to hurt his feelings by telling him that maybe he needs to in turn work a little harder to get that starting spot back, and so we will now drive two hours to practice instead of two minutes because I want to shelter my little johnny from the real world until he turns 25 and has to fend for himself and then realize that things dont always go his way and sometimes you just have to work a little harder and sometimes there are going to be people who are better than you at things and sometimes you just cant move to a different place every time things dont go your way and sometimes daddy wont always be there to make sure nobody hurts my feelings because then i would be a victim and there are not enough victims in this world, then absolutely at $4/gallon.
can everyone do that, no. but maybe thats a good thing?
