B-Rabbit,

To add to galaxy's comment (although I don't agree with his "showing ignorance" remark - that's kinda harsh - I think you are probably just un-enlightened) -- yes, "his (phil savitz) time is divided between coaching high school, teaching school, and being a DOC of one of the largest clubs in the state," but what I would like to offer is that it's totally possible that he can do all of those things, and do each one better, than both Tormey and Hyslop together can do as full-time co-directors.

Now, I am NOT saying this is fact, but unless/until you get to know the man, you just cannot understand what I am suggesting.

Belligerent,
Disregard my last post. I now see that it is not possible for you and I to agree on anything based on your suggestion to B-Rabbit.

Loc Dog, sorry...to borrow a quote from the chicken farmer in Napoleon Dynamite:

Loc Dog, sorry to hear that. From past experience, the only people I've ever met who felt the same way you do on the one subject are parents whose child has been "unfairly" cut from the Irmo varsity soccer team. But, on a more positive note, You can always move to Dutch Fork or Lexington.

HappyDaddy, I was just wondering why you seem to keep pushing the question about the "agreement" between CESA and SSC.

Because the "title" of the thread is "SSC to be taken over by CESA." The press release doesn't seem to say that. I find it interesting that Tormey and Hyslop are able to do "moonlighting" as consultants to other clubs, if that's what's happening. If the relationship was going to be of the CESA-Columbia variety, I wanted to know that. As I've said, I'm not really concerned about what the answer is, I'd just like to have one.

look belligerent, a successful high school savitz may be, but a better club doc than hyslop or tormey is plain ridiculous.

HappyDaddy: Do you know Barack Obama personally? I'm just wondering -- because he seemed to have you in mind when talking about folks being bitter.

I think that Phil Savitz and Tripp Miller are fine DOCs and wonderful coaches. SSC didn't hire a DOC. They hired people to consult with them with the executive management of a youth soccer club. This is a role typically done in some form (or not done in some form!) by some part-time parents on the board and by DOCs when they don't have more important things to do. Typically DOCs are part-time as well and have a pretty full coaching load.

CUFC has some amazing coaches and has made enormous progress in the last two years. I believe that CUFC, more than CESA, is responsible for this move by SSC -- after a promising start the Bridge alliance hasn't made the progress that SSC clearly wanted -- in my mind CUFC shot ahead of them.
