If that were the case, the statement most likely would have been "Yes, Our intention is to host Friendly Games, Tournaments, Camps and other activities that will foster a unified club environment at the Summerville Soccer Club Soccer Complex, but we will not be participating in the local league."

cht: Sound and fury...

I think an objective summary would be as follows: It appears that SSC had made a decision that experienced professional executive management would help them achieve their goals of providing more and better service.

More opinionated: maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong -- maybe they picked the right people to help them, maybe they didn't -- but just as I said when Bridge was created -- I give them credit for trying.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS! These Club Soccer DOC's are not curing disease, solving global warming, or even teaching our kids effective life lessons. It's CLUB SOCCER for goodness sake.

Few of us cure diseases or solve global warming (the issue of whether youth soccer teaches effective life lessons is debatable so I'll just leave that out.) However, it seems to me that each of us, in our jobs and/or in our roles on boards and committees, should try to do our best within those roles. The alternative is what you all too often see; people who "retire in place" and just "go along" rather than striving to do their best.

The largest clubs in our state raise six to seven figures of revenue to provide a service. It seems to me that the people strategically and tactically involved should strive to do thir best to provide the best service possible for each dollar a parent pays.

You are exactly correct. These clubs just "go along" as long as the numbers are good, revenues are up, and the coaches and DOC's do the right thing for their kids. But as soon as one of thoses go bad, the panic sets in. Every paying member of any club should understand decisions will be made for them by board members who may not have there best interest in mind. Only time will tell.

If this is true, when are tryouts in Summerville?

Bridge and MPSC can't merge. MPSC is a non-profit organization and Bridge is not.

Repeek,

Unless something has changed in the recent past, Bridge is also a non-profit organization. To date, that hasn't been what kept them from merging.
