Here's an interesting exercise to attempt to validate your observation. Let's examine the number of teams in the final 4 of last fall's challenge cup:

CESA - 12
CUFC - 8
Bridge - 3
FSCG - 2
LCSC - 2
CUSC - 1
CFC - 1

CESA only has 8 premier-level teams in these age groups; so 4 of challenge teams were in the final 4. In other words, if you removed all of the elite teams from CESA and compared them against the existing clubs in South Carolina, they'd be second in number of final 4 teams (behind CUFC, ahead of Bridge.)

This isn't a one-off; from memory, the year before CESA had either 12 or 13 teams in the final 4.

Thus, I don't know how to validate your theory here with the actual results -- but perhaps I'm missing something?
