The annual North-South Soccer Classic, sponsored by South Carolina United FC and hosted by the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association, was held Saturday, June 11 at the College of Charleston Soccer Stadium on Mount Pleasant.
South Sweeps North-South Soccer Classic
In the 15th girls match, the South squad registered a 5-1 victory, while in the 23rd boys game, the South slipped past the North squad with a 2-1 victory. The girls series is tied at 7-7-1 and the win dropped the North's advantage in the series to 14-7-2.
Hilary Ferguson of West Ashley and Meagan Moss of Woodruff garnered Most Valuable Player honors for the South and North teams, respectively, in the girls match. For the boys match, Wando's Jarrel Smalls of the South and Fort Mill's Michael Borer for the North tallied MVP accolades.
